Emma Mercer | The Hollows Character Concept Art

Emma Mercer is thoughtful, perceptive, compassionate, and quietly stubborn. Six years after the disappearance of her young son, Sean, she has learned to live with the uncomfortable distinction between knowing what she experienced and being unable to explain it.

Naturally introspective, Emma pays close attention to people and tends to look for the larger meaning connecting seemingly unrelated details. She is careful about what she claims to know, skeptical of easy explanations, and far less credulous than people sometimes assume. Years of having her own experience questioned have made her deliberate about separating what she witnessed from what she merely suspects.

Emma is warm without being naïve, emotionally resilient without being untouched, and deeply loyal to the people she loves. She is not particularly confrontational by nature, but once she believes something matters, she can be extraordinarily difficult to move. More than anything, Emma is someone who refuses to treat a person as lost simply because everyone else has stopped looking.
