Tess Bell is practical, sharp-eyed, and difficult to keep still when there is something she can be doing. She has little patience for wasted motion, vague answers, or waiting around while other people decide what comes next. When something is wrong, Tess’s instinct is to act first: make the call, check the door, follow the lead, and deal with whatever is actually in front of her.
She is skeptical without being cynical, grounded without being rigid, and deeply loyal to the people she considers hers. Tess is not especially sentimental in how she expresses affection, but her care shows up in action—in showing up, fixing what she can, and refusing to walk away from a problem simply because it has become difficult.
Underneath the impatience is a strong need to remain useful. Helplessness frustrates her more than fear does, and she would almost always rather make the wrong move than stand still wondering whether she should have done something.
